En el curso de los años, Enrique Oroz ha conseguido algo que no es común en muchas carreras artísticas recono- cidas: depurar las estrategias plásticas, intensificar los elementos iconográficos, pulir los recursos composi- tivos, en fin, sintetizar los poderes del discurso y el re- pertorio matérico. En los cuadros de Oroz tienen lugar, simultáneamente, la paráfrasis o reinterpretación de imágenes cultas y el reciclaje de elementos y temas pro- ducidos por las industrias culturales de masas. El humor negro, la presencia de lo animal y una crítica brutal a la desmesura humana, se articulan dando paso a la apari- ción de ficciones paródicas extrañamente majestuosas.
Over the years, Enrique Oroz has achieved something that is not common in many recognized artistic careers: the refine- ment of visual strategies – the intensification of iconogra- phic elements, the polishing of compositional resources – all in service to his synthesis of discursive powers and material repertoire. Oroz’s paintings simultaneously embody the para- phrasing or reinterpretation of cultured images and recycled elements and subject matter from mass industrial culture. Black humor, the presence of animals, and a brutal critique of human indulgence are pronounced and give way to parodic fic- tions that are strangely majestic.
