En el trasfondo de la producción del artista están pre- sentes (reinventados) los componentes característicos del legado expresionista más avanzado: crítica de la violencia, retorno al reino salvaje, simbiosis de natura- leza (paisaje) y civilización (ciudad, interior doméstico), interacción de humanos y animales, configuración pictó- rica empastada, gestualismo, ironía, humor, sarcasmo, pulsión libidinal... Las composiciones de Víctor Hugo Pérez son el resultado de la amalgama entre una gran capacidad de intuición formal y un conocimiento visual muy considerable, que cubre desde imágenes de culto del arte moderno hasta tradiciones plásticas populares y sub-cultos contemporáneos.
The backdrop of this artist’s production is populated (reinven- ted) by the characteristic components of the most advanced expressionist legacy: the critique of violence, the return to a wild kingdom, the symbiosis of nature (landscape) and civi- lization (the city, domestic life), the interaction between hu- mans and animals, textured pictorial configurations, gestural representations, irony, humor, sarcasm, the libido’s drive... in Pérez’s paintings we see the result of an amalgamation of an outstanding ability to express formal intuition and consi- derable visual experience that spans intellectual images from modern art to popular visual traditions and imagery from con- temporary sub culture.
